Later, a much more advanced projector came out. One that could be attached to a computer which eliminated the translucent sheets. You'd think that we would be amazed by the new technology. Not really. We just liked the idea that our teacher couldn't make us clean those dang sheets anymore! However, even though we didn't give technology like this much thought in the moment, there were a lot of advances made.
Technology advances are on an upward rise. This makes an interesting scenario for kids who will go to school in the future. There is an article on this very topic titled: 6 Ways Digital Learning is Changing Teaching. Through articles like this and other research, we can get an idea what the future has in store for education. However, nothing can be said for sure. That is a responsibility for future generation to inherit. Maybe it is not our place to predict, but to try our very best to keep up with current technology. If we do this, maybe we can prolong the time it takes to get passed up in knowledge by some little kid.
Reading your blog post brought back some lovely memories to me of the very well known old projector. It was so much fun when for a class our teacher chose to bring it in, so that he/she could illustrate certain things. Now we have all these smart boards, where you can project and write something at the same time, it's crazy to me.

ReplyDeleteI remember those projectors, super fun. Did your school ever upgrade to the smart board? Those were crazy. Easy to believe the progress we've made with technology in the last 10 years as we are in the present but what will our lives look like in 10 years with this fast rate of improvement?
ReplyDeleteEven in elementary school, I was exposed to high tech projectors and different kinds of technology to enhance lessons and our learning. As I went to high school, and then college, I realized the significance of these things in my education, and saw the ways they were evolving and getting more prominent in the classroom. I think that they are helpful in many ways, and I definitely agree that the best way to deal with all the new technology is to learn how to use it and not be ignorant, but I wonder if there will ever be a point where more technology won't be useful or enhancing anymore...

It's always crazy to think about how far technology has come in such a short amount of time. My brother's 8th grade class all has their own Ipad to work on during class...it's pretty strange. The article you shared is pretty interesting, but I wanted to know more about what you think. Why did you decide to share this article or even write about this topic? You say technology is going to change education, what do you think about that?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the response! In my research I have come to the conclusion that education will become more directed towards the use of technology, simply because it has to be. The world is changing fast, and to stay ahead, one has to be well schooled in current technology. The main subjects in school (Math, science, english, etc.) will still be prevalent, but technology will play a bigger role. It will maximize efficiency, in turn, making the subject matter more complex.
